Download your entire Picturelife library as zip files. Files are split by month to make their size more manageable.
Download your archives WITHOUT metadata
All downloads will include the original picture or video, in the exact format (including any original EXIF data) that it was uploaded to Picturelife.
- Login to your account via a desktop web browser at Picturelife.com
- Follow this URL to access the downloads page: https://picturelife.com/account/my_archive?include_metadata=false
- Follow the on-page instructions to request and download your archives in .ZIP format
Download your archives WITH metadata
Picturelife uses the industry standard XMP format for downloaded files with metadata. At this time, archive downloads with metadata do not include changes you were made to photo metadata using Picturelife editing tools.
- Login to your account via a desktop web browser at Picturelife.com
- Follow this URL to access the downloads page: https://picturelife.com/account/my_archive?include_metadata=true
- Follow the on-page instructions to request and download your archives in .ZIP format
More about metadata
Picturelife will insert metadata in two ways:
- XMP sidecar files:
- Files have the same name as the original image, but use a different file extension.
- XMP files are readable by Lightroom and other software, but might only be read for RAW files.
- XMP embedded in the original image file.
- This is compatible with non-RAW formats such as JPEG.
- iPhoto, Aperture, and other software can read and display the metadata (such as, caption or rating).
- The original image content is the same, but the file itself will be technically different than what you originally uploaded, due to the addition of metadata.
Not all metadata is readable by all software. For example, Picturelife includes album information in the XMP sidecar files, but your software might not be able to display this.
This service is not functioning right now at all. Provides empty zip files. What is going on with Picturelife? I trusted you guys...
I am having the exact same issue :(
Same problem here.
I am also experiencing the same problem (and it's making me really nervous...)
These guys are jokers now. Looks like our worst fears are realized. They appear to have done a bunk. Twitter responds with 'working on issue, will advise' but no indication when. Support not answering any queries. It's the lack of communication that's worrying most.
I knew I should have set up the Amazon S3 option... this is exactly what I asked someone about before trusting them with all my photos...
If someone at this company reads this...please at least allow us access to the photos you have on your servers. This is really messed up. If you guys knew you were going to botch it, why not at least give us the ability to download our stuff!!! Please help!
YOU GUYS ARE THE WORST NO CHANCE TO DOWNLOAD ANY OF MY PICTURES.... THANKS FOR PROBABLY LOOSING ALL MY PICTURES. LAMERS! PAYING FOR LOOSING ALL MY PHOTOS GREAT JOB GUYS!
This is getting scary. No replies to my support requests on this issue, and my zip files are still "being created" after four days. Lesson learned - never stick with a product after it's sold to another company. Get your stuff out and RUN! I wonder if I'll ever get possession of my photos without having to painfully download each one - when the site works, that is.
Same problem. zip files still being created after days. No way to download. Luckily, I never trusted them, and have files on S3, but this is still a big hassle since S3 has several files per photo. Anyone have a script that will sort for originals only?
Ive been trying to get in touch with them for many months. I believe they have abandoned their customers. As far as I can tell, the photos are lost.
I've noticed a number of those "color bar" thumbnails aren't resolving to images. Does this mean my actual picture data is also lost? How the hell did they let things get this bad? Somebody, get me a script to get this stuff off their server before everything is gone! Also, time to ask for a refund. No paying customer should be treated like this.
I do not think a company exists. I think the images are gone.
They should be sued. Anyone want to bring a class action?
I've been trying to save my pictures for a couple of months now and sometimes the servers are down and none of the pictures will load other times they do but theres no way to download them. I'm really upset because I've had memories saved here since early 2012. I hope something can be done.
I have saved memories since 2009 and I am bum'ed now running into all the issues.
Picture life support., please do something - at least give us a chance to save our precious memories.
Images are starting to disappear from servers. Here is some information that might help you save what's left of your library:

I got a lot of my photos back, but there are quite a few that seem to have already disappeared. Good luck!
Thanks Josh. Will go through your site. Hopefully that will help.
Question for all fellow posters, has anyone surfaced a class suit against the company? Clearly, normal avenues for redress aren't not be ing considered or acted upon by the company.
Osiris, how did you migrate your photos?
Oops - looks like Osiris deleted his comment.
I gave up and moved everything to Mylio. They specifically address issues like this by using peer-to-peer to share files between devices, storing them using the OS file system. No hidden files in your way, and no need for a cloud that can go down and hose everything. You can access any of your photos using Mylio or the standard file browser. There is a free version at http://mylio.com.
I have a mistrust of all things cloud, and I was still evaluating Picturelife using a copied portion of my library. I had originals on a RAID and Mylio was able to add my files without changing my file structure.
jklina: I went to your link but my coding/decoding skills are slim to none.... Can you explain a simpler way to attempt to download my photos through the back end?
