Uploading FAQs - iOS app for iPhone & iPad

My camera roll photos are stuck and won't upload

Sometimes the upload gets stuck - luckily there are a few ways you can kick start the iOS app into uploading all of your photos. First, always: Sidebar > Help menu > tap Clear Local Cache. If this isn't working for you, move on to the following:

  1. Sidebar > Backup Status > turn on Allow Uploads
  2. Sidebar > Help menu > tap Clear Local Cache
  3. Sidebar > Backup status > Camera roll > tap Options > tap Look for new items
  4. Sidebar > Backup status > Camera roll > tap Options > tap Upload everything
  5. Sidebar > Backup status > Camera roll > tap Options > tap Upload new items

Finally, leave the Picturelife app open and active on your phone, in the camera roll view, and watch for photos to move from queued for upload (..^) to uploading to processing (...) uploaded.

I'm connected to wifi but the app says "Waiting for Wifi"

Open the Sidebar > Help menu > tap Clear Local Cache - this should clear that status, and upload any queued photos.

I disabled Upload over Cellular, but the app keeps uploading over cellular

  1. Sidebar > Settings > turn Upload over Cellular ON
  2. Turn Upload over Cellular OFF
  3. Sidebar > Help menu > tap Clear Local Cache

Enhanced Background Uploads is ON but Picturelife isn't uploading my photos

First things first - always try the simplest diagnostic test:

  1. Sidebar > Settings > turn Enhanced Background Upload OFF
  2. Right away, turn Enhanced Background Upload ON
  3. Sidebar > Help menu > tap Clear Local Cache

If this doesn't work, it may be due to one of the following:

  • You haven't triggered a background upload by moving what we call "a significant distance".
    • Background uploading is triggered by your location - so, when the device (and hopefully you with it) move a significant distance, Picturelife is told to look for and upload new photos. That distance is about 1 mile.
  • Upload over Cellular is OFF, and you're not connected to a wifi network
    • If you have a good cellular data plan, you may want to consider enabling Cellular Uploads
    • With Enhanced Background Uploading AND Upload over Cellular turned on, the app will upload any time it is triggered by location change, and you're connected to either a wifi network or a cellular network.
    • If Upload over Cellular is OFF, Picturelife will upload new photos when the device is again connected to a wifi network
